Garden Petroleum is committed to advancing America’s goals of energy independence without sacrificing safety or the environment. Watch us grow!
Garden Petroleum’s Peak Oil Clock on the right, illustrates that the US Geological Survey calculates the world has less than 30 years of extractable crude oil left in the ground. Of the 30 years of proven oil reserves, less than 10% is counted from America.
A respected American oil man, Matt Simmons, developed the idea the world was running out of oil. Matt described this problem as Peak Oil. Garden Petroleum has tried to express Matt’s important idea in what we call the Peak Oil Clock.
America has been pumping oil from under our lands for more than one hundred years. We have done this by drilling a hole, deep in to the earth, and drawing out oil, in the same way you could draw water from a wet sponge with a soda straw. This is call conventional recovery. Conventional recovery extracts less than 20% of the oil discovered.
For many years, of the oil discovered, the amount taken from the ground has been less than 20%. In recent years, new technologies have increased the recovery rate to 40% or 50%. These technologies range from underground water floods, and fire floods, to CO2 and NO2 stimulation, rock fracturing, jet injection, microbial stimulation, lasers; and directional drilling deployed with pinpoint accuracy mile underground, using technologies ranging from satellites to gyroscopes. Recently, we have even developed ways of feeding prehistoric microbes, called methanogens, in to coal seams to create new energy from coal that is simply too deep to recover.
For more than 100 years America has lead the world in new technology. America patents more new technology each year than the rest of the world combined. This technology has brought the world everything from televisions and mobile phones to jets and the internet. America develops the most medical innovations, builds the fastest computers, and writes most of the world’s software.
What if American technology could change the Peak Oil Clock, so there is more than 100 years of oil still in the ground? What if much of that oil could be taken from the ground in America without touching our parks, or polluting our waters; and, what if we could do all of that and have the lowest energy cost in the world? Does this sound like too much to hope for? Garden Petroleum believes this is achievable. Today we have more computing power in each of our smartphones than was used to put beloved American, Neil Armstrong, on the moon. We believe that American technology will change Matt Simon’s peak oil calculation, thereby permitting America the time it needs to develop a viable alternative energy source.
America has paid trillions of dollars to buy oil from parts of the world, where our passion for equality, the rule of law, and democracy, are not embraced. Many of the nations, who today sell America oil, did not know they had oil; did not know how to get it out of the ground; did not have the capital necessary to extract their oil; and, did not have an economy that needed the energy derived from oil. Now they sell America oil, even though some in these nations feel envy and anger toward what Americans have, and they may never have.
American Energy Independence (AEI®) will mean that America stops sending the money we earn from our innovations and hard work, to nations where there are people who do not share our values, and who actively plot to harm us. AEI will mean that manufacturing is less expensive in America, thereby allowing the millions of jobs shipped overseas to come home. AEI will mean that we have time to develop new ways to energize the most powerful country in the world, well before the peak oil clock actually runs down.
Garden Petroleum is committed to turning back the peak oil clock, one well at a time.
